Default NewYork-Help with Taxis at Midnight to Jersey City

Hello folks,

I am visiting NYC over the weekend and booked up a hotel in Jersey City, NJ.
I'd be arriving by the Megabus service at 11PM on Friday and was wondering whether it's late to get a taxi to the hotel from this bus terminal (7th Ave. and 28th St.)
Come to think of it , am not sure whether taxis will drop me at Jersey City... since NYC and Jersey City are in two different states...
Any help or information on travelling to Jersey City from NYC at midnight will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

They'll take you, but it'll cost you. The rules for trips to NJ (and not Newark Airport) are on the back of the taxi. It's something like twice the meter, plus all the tolls (that's normal to pay the tolls).

Cabs from Manhattan to Jersey City are really expensive. I'd recommend that you take the PATH train to Jersey City, and then get a short ($5) cab ride from the PATH station to your hotel if necessary. You'll save a ton of money. The PATH runs 24 hours and is very safe at midnight on a Friday. There will be cabs waiting for you at the stations.

Thanks,
You should walk from 28th and 7th to 33rd and 6th where you can catch the path back to JC. It costs $1.75 and then you can catch a JC cab for $5-10. I linked the path map below. A taxi from nyc to nj only makes sense if you are splitting it between four or five ppl (its still sort of a rip-off anyway, though).

Whoa! Are you rich? I would never take a taxi from NY to NJ or vice versa. They overcharge dramatically ..Take the Path or jersey transit ! It's a REALLY short ride ...I used to take the PATH to penn station all the time...no more than 10 minutes versus paying a taxi guy close to 70 dollars for that same trip.
