so i already live in brooklyn but am thinking of moving to the area of franklin ave. and putnam i have heard mixed reviews of the safety of this neighborhood and would like to know what it is like at night past 11:00 to walk home from about 20 mins. away. and also just generally if it is quiet or not it looks nice but i haveheard it can be bad and am not sure if it is considered bed-stuy or not.

Any place can be risky, but risk is higher perhaps in some more isolated areas (fewer lights, pedestrians, etc). I don't think I'd like to make this 20 minute walk from the subway--especially in winter months when it is even darker.

However, people say Park Slope is safe, and several years ago, the area experienced some very nasty incidents (all female).

So, ultimately, it is a risk no matter where you live and taking precautions always is the answer.
