paperaffection is on a distinguished road
My faves are:

Alphabet Scoop on 11th St between Ave A & B. All ice cream is home made and the kids who work there are part of a teen job training program. So on top of having awesome ice cream, you're supporting a good cause! Try the razzle dazzle - raspberry white chocolate and truffle. mmm! Big scoops too.

Chinatown Ice Cream Factory (Bayard st between mott and elizabeth) is great because they have really unique flavors like mango, lychee, green tea, ginger, almond cookie and even wasabi! They have "exotic" flavors like chocolate vanilla and strawberry too hehe.

Sundaes and cones on 9th? and 3rd ave. they have awesome ice cream cakes too!

I could go for a coldstone right now. Just not feeling their prices.

mmmm, their dark chocolate is delicious. The flavors change every day, so you don't know what they'll have. It is a little pretentious, but I've never had ice cream that dense and creamy (this is good.)

For odd flavors, Max and Mina's in Kew Gardens Hills.
