I need help please help me find a nice area (section 8, daycare)

I am a single mother of 2 boys currently living in a domestic violence shelter and will be getting my section 8 voucher soon.I want to start college soon for a nursing degree and I drive so I want to choose an area that is safe for my boys also easy for me to be able to drop them off at school and get the school myself at a good time.I was thinking the Brooklyn but have no idea about the different areas I am from Staten island. I also work as a cna so I would just get a case around the daycare if possible. Kudos to you for continuing your education! The problem with Section 8 is that the number of units available is limited, and you won't necessarily have a lot of choice about where to live. I'm sure there's a master list of available Section 8 properties? Once you have that, you can check them out in person and then ask here for recommendations about different areas.
