Default summer sublet mkt too hot?

hi

i am utah, i will be in the ny area by late may and start a summer internship in early june in midtown manhattan. i was looking on craigslist sublets and it seems there are plenty new ones posted every day right now, but i also have been told that getting a sublet is difficult. can anyone give me some suggestions on how to go about this? i dont think i really want to fork over a deposit on a place on craigslist sight-unseen from here in utah, but im worried that by early june there wont be many vacant sublets on offer?

thanks for any suggestions
-gong

Did you have your company look into the NYU dorms for the summer? A lot of young people with summer internships in NYC do this. It might be past the deadline for this though.

You're going to pay a lot for a sublet in the summer as opposed to the winter/fall. Like mead said, go through the colleges for dorms, they will probably be cheaper.

Try www.summersubletsnyc.com (broken link) (although it isn't working currently, it's from Citi-Habitat), http://www.studenthousing.org/, and NYU.

I did the summersubletsnyc in 2003, it was a GREAT location, reasonably priced (2500 for 3 months), private room/bath, and a short walk to my internship in midtown.
