Hi, I wanted to get a little bit of information about working and living in NYC. I am a RN looking into relocating to New York. My plan is to work at a hospital in the city and find a decent apartment near by. My question is.....is it possible for a RN to live comfortably in Manhattan or a decent area outside Manhattan? I have visited NYC before and that's the only area that I would consider living in or if anybody had any information on another area that is nice, I'm open for suggestions......Thank you! Oh and I plan on continuing my education at NYU.....
I had a friend who worked as an RN (pediatrics ER) at Columbia Presbyterian for ~5 years (she recently left NY to be closer to family in LA). She lived in Manhattan for all 5 years, first Hell's Kitchen then West Village. They were nice apartments, but she always had roommates.
What's your budget and salary and please know wanting to live near work/school is always what first timers want then a yr later they realize its more about a nice place than nearby.
