Beach Communities
Can anyone give me a list of beach communities in New York City.
I already know of
Far Rockaway
Broad Channel
Coney
Im looking to rent in a beach community for the summer probably around 1,000 /month. I could do more than that but not very much more.
Any suggestions?

You can also go out to Staten Island.... Midland beach or South Beach. Great Kills has some waterfront too but no real beach to speak of.
The Rockaways would be your best bet for that money. Try in the area of Rockaway Park near Beach 116 st is where the subway starts. Summer rentals are much more expensive.

You'd have to go through a real estate agent or look in the local paper (which is pretty limited) Here is the link to the Long Beach Herald:

I am selling a house in Long Beach and have an agent that I would recommend, if interested.

The Country Club area has some waterfront homes but no real beach. If that's what you are looking for City Island may be a worth a look, too.
It is pretty easy to get over to Orchard Beach from the Pelham Bay section though, but I wouldn't call it a beach community.

Long Beach is really a great beach town, with it's own personality and things going on in your own town. Rent (for year round) is also fairly reasonable for Long Island. You are almost an hour from Penn Station via the LIRR though so a commute may be an adjustment. It is great living though.
