Concentrated area of bars with crowd older than 25
I recently moved to NYC and have gone out quite a few times. Plenty of friends have visited already but they are from areas that have bars concentrated(more than 5 bars) in one area (Austin, Chicago, DC,etc). I didn't know if there were a concentrated area of bars that cater to older crowds that I could have taken them to. From my observations, this is what I think:
Lower east side: younger crowd, college and post-college young professionals and some swanky bars mixed in.
2nd Av UES, almost the same but crowd seemed a little more mature
Hoboken(I know its not NYC), young, immature frat-like mentality mixed in with old 50 year creepy guys, LOL. It reminds me of E. Sixth in Austin, I don't hate it though.
Mid-town-Not many bars, hip-hop bars scattered around.
Williamsburg-Never been during late night.
Meatpacking-Same, only have been for HH.
So, are there any recommendations of areas that have more than a few bars that cater to older than a 25 yr old crowd? I know there are tons of areas but I can't seem to find them. I also understand that many bars are scattered that are NOT in concentrated areas but we really like to bar hop in the same area as opposed to taking cabs/subways from bar to bar.
Thanks,

Nothing caters to an old crowd; it's all based on how much money you make and what kind of people you want to meet (who make a certain amount of money).
Real people of all ages - who want to enjoy "the scene" - may be found in the East Village: Otto's Shrunken Head, Mona's, Lakeside Lounge, Manitoba's, etc. All on Avenue B between 14th and Houston. Come on down!

The East Village (not the Lower East Side) has the most diverse selection on bars. There's something for every taste and persuation: jazz bars, gay bars, dive bars, swanky bars, hipster bars, scotch bars, hooka bars, tapas bars, wine bars, bars with live music, bars with a garden, pubs (Irish or English), and on and on and on.
You need to be more specific. "Older" is a vague term.

exactly, i'm well over 25 and i still enjoy meeting friends and going wherever as long as it is a chill loungy spot. most of my friends are over 30. and i'm usually able to detect a post-college crowd quick by the noise level and aggressive behavior.
for older people? hmmm, maybe hotel longes. i always see older folks at the bars at the Waldorf or Hilton

Thanks for the replies,
I'm in my late 20s but tend to like places with a range from mid 20s to mid 30s or so.
When you say East Village, do you mean just Ave B or are there any other main streets?

I think the shadow is a 25 and older spot. It's on West 28th Street between 7th and 8th avenue.
