I found out about the exam a day before filing ended. Glad I took it but the wait is insane. Good luck to all.

If I were you, I'd double-check with that TA worker. I've never heard of a mixed class of promotionals and open competitive.

I don't know if they are calling open competitve yet. When I was hired I was open competitive. There were conductors in my class promoting but truthfully I do not know if they were being called off the open competitive list (employees can take OC and promotional and be on both lists) or if they were coming off the promotional. I was hired in a large class of 80+ altogether (although the overall class is broken into smaller groups).

Someone asked about the starting pay rate. It will be a little less than top pay which is around $31.88/hr not counting night/weekend differential which is around $1.49/hr.

When I was in training back in '07 the training rate was $26.99/hr. I will guess it has gone up a little but not much. That's a guess. I'm sure it's not less than that.

I have not heard any rumors related to hiring. I heard one several months ago that OC calling was imminent and that apparantly was wrong so I don't want to post any more rumors.

Whoever is on the OC , if they are not calling already , which they might be , they should start calling soon.

I haven't posted in a while. Been busy. I wish everyone waiting luck.

Hey, Mike--welcome back!

Over the last two weeks, I've seen two classes of train operators in the towers where I've been working. One was definitely promotional. (I did hear a story about an OC class, but I can't verify it).

Thank you very much for the input guys, it is greatly appreciated. I have been self employed for almost 10 years and business is getting tougher. That being said, i hope everyday that my score (93.75) and list# 1600's will make the cut. Good luck to all.
