Well, it's official. I am in the May class, start may 20th. Didn't realize the benefits package and rule book would be so heavy, lol
Do you know if the benefits are deducted from your hourly pay?
For example the letter says the hourly rate is $30.03 per hour minus benefits, lets say $6 per hour so your taxable hourly would be 24.03.
Or is it 30.03 per hour Plus benefits?
Also I would like to know if every train operator makes the same pay rate or is there a sliding scale as you become more experienced?
You will have a benefit package that will not come from your hourly wage.
Benefit package will include your salary, medical, dental, vision, vacation, etc.

Congrats on making the May class. Do u know how large this class will be 40- 50- 60 t/o's? What is the list # range for this class? Once again congrats and best wishes!
Are you currently a t/o or are you in the same boat with us?
I have been called in for the D/T and I will have to make a very hard choice,
I currently earn usually about 80k per year on average how ever I had bad years and only earned 40 to 50 k there is not any guarantees or job security in the line of work that I do .
my weekly take home pay is about 1300 with out overtime , I am concerned about making ends meet on a t/o salary . I figure if I can work at least 2 hour ot per day it should even out more less if the ot is available.
I am also concerned about not being home for my children on weekends too.

I think the only thing you can consistently bank on is the base pay - $30/hr, since the OT offered will fluctuate on a daily basis. If you're use to a certain income/lifestyle you will have to put in the hours to receive OT pay ie 1.5x and 2x rates when its offered. I also believe if you're offered OT and you turn it down, you will be charged for it regardless of whatever personal & legitimate reason you may have for declining it.
Plus as a new t/o the likelihood that you will consistently have weekends off is very low for the 1st few years of your career. If anyone else can add/revise pls do so as these comments are from reading this and other threads, speaking w/ my MTA friend and my own professional/union experiences. Hope this was helpful.
judging by the fact that you cannot figure out what the score means- I am going to assume that it is a very bad score.
