Has anyone stayed at University Place at 385 McDonald Ave? If so, was it safe and as nice as the website says? How bad is the commute from there to BC?

385 McDonald is just above Church Avenue--that's a decent area. And the commute from there to Brooklyn College isn't bad, at all. You can catch the B35 bus right on Church to Nostrand Avenue. From there, the 2 (or 5, if you happen to be riding during rush hours) will take you right to BC's front door!

You can also take the F train 4 stops to Bay Parkway and transfer to the B6 bus to Brooklyn College. The F train station is literally on the same block as that building.
It's only a bad commute if you don't like taking the bus, which is pretty much unavoidable.

The website is really misleading. The management is really poor and the facility is less than desirable. The area is okay but they boast being minutes away from the city when in fact the commute is over 45 minutes typically, and that doesn't include the time it takes to wait for the train to actually come. The price they charge for the space you get is ridiculous. You can find much better deals in better locations. Look somewhere else for housing. Trust me.
