My wife is going to be working in Floral Park, Queens, and needs to live relatively close to her job. Which neighborhood would you recommend that a young couple with a baby and yuppie tendencies live near Floral Park? Thanks.

Douglaston, Little Neck, Forest Hills, and even parts of Bayside should fit the bill, though Forest Hills will be the longest commute at around 25 minutes or so. Douglaston and Little Neck are closer, as is much of Bayside. What type of home do you want? If you want a condo or an apartment, Bayside and Forest Hills are going to have more in luxury apartment buildings than Douglaston and Little Neck that can be more suburban in nature, though parts of Bayside are equally suburban in character.

Don't discount Glen Oaks from that. I've lived here 30 years and would recommend it to anyone, especially someone who works in Floral Park.

Glen Oaks was where I grew up, and I believe it's still very nice: the complex itself is two story garden apts (coops) unless that's changed, which probably makes for a good neighborhood feel. They have their own parking as well.

It is indeed co-ops with some people adding a third floor with approval from the board. They also have their own parking and ample space for sitting outside.
