need help from new yorkers! (school, live in, legally)

hi im thom and i live in the uk and i its been a dream ever since i first visited NY to move there.. i now feel the time is right and i would love some help on how to get into america and what areas are best and jobs and things!

i have been working in an opticains for just over 2 years and really enjoy it ive got a level 3 nvq and diploma in optics and obviously my gcse's from school

Do you have a visa? That's the first thing you'll need to attend to. Without the proper visa, you won't be able to legally work here.

no i dont have my visa.. to be honest i not even sure i know how to get one. i thought i would go the working way round it but i hear its a hard way to do it!
do i apply for a visa online or do i need to go to the american embassey ????

Call or go to the closest American Embassy -- they'll have the information you need. DON'T move without one, if you expect to be able to work.
