I think he definitely should've been punished with jail time but the sentence has not been relative to other celebrities and their crimes. That being said I think 2 yrs is about.

Also you're in NY carrying a concealed weapon...if you live around this area you know the gun laws around the NYC metro area are pretty much the most strict in the nation save for maybe one or two other states (NJ for example). Expect to be prosecuted hard if you're found with a gun.

But this goes against the 2nd amendment!!!!

People should be able to get guns wherever they want, and bring them wherever they want so long as they are not criminals!!!!

I mean, come ON! this is what the founding fathers were fighting for!!!!!

FREEDOOOOOOOM!

The founding fathers also fought to preserve the rights of individual states.

Plus I would like to add the state of New York does not forbid legal handguns. Neither does New York City proper (although it is much harder in NYC). However it is lengthy process and there are a lot of attached steps and laws you are expected to follow. I don't have a problem with this. If you want to carry a handgun bad enough and are a responsible person you should be able to get through the process and follow the requirements.

That has nothing at all to do with Plaxico.

Oh please.

If you want to carry a gun, do it LEGALLY. And DON'T bring a gun into a nightclub.

Plaxico Burress had no right whatsoever to carry that gun in NYC/NYS and absolutely had no right to bring it into a nightclub.

He should be thanking his lucky stars that he didn't "accidentally" shoot someone else.

Two years for his crime is appropriate as far as I'm concerned.

No, Fighting states rights does not have to do with Plax.

You are playing Kevin Bacon with constitutional law!

BTW, is it just me, or does Plaxico sound like a Pharmaceutical company?

Yes, Plaxico Burress "only" shot himself. However, who does he think he is bringing a loaded gun into a night club full of people?? A gun he obviously can't handle. What if he would have "accidentally" shot someone in your family? Your son or daughter? Would you feel the same way?

Let him sit in prison, let him realize he's no more special than anyone else and he can't break the law simply because he's a football player.

He only got 2 years in prison --- I'm sure he'll be out on work release long before his 2 years are up. He'll be a big "hero" in prison simply because he's a football "star".

Couldn't have said it better !

Forever being the jackass who shot himself is punishment enough.
