Hello I'm graduating from college in CA in december and i wanna move to NYC. I have a decent budget, but not too big. can someone tell me a decent neighborhood to live in. 500K...I'm Italian if that helps at all thanks anything will be appreciated. I'll live anywhere.

You want to buy an apartment for 500K? Where are you working? Please also refer to the sticky at the top of the board entitled, 'Need info on moving to NYC.'

500K can get you a studio or even a 1BR.

For more space, you can check a section of Washington Heights called "Hudson Heights". It is Manhattan but WAY North. It is nice... you may want to give it a look. Or, even farther North is a section called Inwood.
these are a little off the beaten Path though and do not have great Nightlife (which is what I think a recent grad might want).

You can definitely do Brooklyn (although Brooklyn is not really Italian anymore!!).

Not sure you can buy in center of Manhattan areas on 500K.
