Default Which celebs have you seen in NYC?

This can vary from plain old movie and TV stars, reality show celebs, filming or TV sets, etc.

My friend who's older had seen John Lennon several times (including one time with Elton John in a bar singing along with the jukebox, or so he tells me). He worked in a houseware/hardware store on the UES back in the day, and folks like Lena Horne, Anthony Quinn, Andy Warhol and other notables (many of whom lived nearby) would come in to buy housewares/art supplies etc because it was a "mom and pop" operation and most had accounts there.

I've seen a few, but of course the ubiquitous TV and movie shoots (Law and Order is always set in NYC).

Most NY'ers will refrain from approaching, which is one of the reasons Lennon loved NYC (though ironically of course, well, you know the rest).

I saw "Mr Big" just jogging along one day with his friend. He was shirtless and it was like 3 in the after noon.

I saw Conan O'Brien walking to work by himself on 5th Ave, Sandra Bullock at Whole Foods, Joan Rivers in front of Trump Tower. It's pretty normal to spot celebs, they like New York because New Yorkers aren't impressed by them. New York itself is a celeb.

I've seen Edie Falco (Tony Soprano's wife, is that her real name?), Mel Gibson, Law & Order folks, Mariah Carey, John Turtorro, and probably a couple of others I can't remember. Most NYers don't go crazy if they see a celeb around the city. It's usually the tourists that go crazy, or the celebs that visit from LA that "think" NYers care about them.

I've seen a lot of celebrities around here.. there was another thread a long time ago about this too. The most recent was when I saw Bill Clinton going into his building on 125th Street.. but I don't know how much of a celebrity, he really is.... only the former president, lol.

When I was like 10 I saw the father from the show Pete and Pete on Nickelodeon. I was on 34 st and he was carrying Macy's bags. I thought it was the coolest thing since I loved the show at the time.

I never really pay any attention to anyone on the sidewalks, but I'm sure I've passed by some. The Sopranos shot an episode down the block from my Aunt's house in Maspeth. My dad and her got to meet the whole cast and take pictures.

I could have sworn I saw Tom Hanks on the subway a year back or so, but who knows if it was really him.
