Well you need to tell us a bit about yourself as in your budget, Kids, Car, Prefrences, and those kinds of things.

Definitely need that type of info, and how long a commute you're OK with(and to where), what kind of nightlife or demographics you want.

All the boroughs have a very wide variety of neighborhoods. Around here, the more specific the better since "Brooklyn" or "the Bronx" can mean a lot of different things. really hard to generalize by borough.

Yes, particularly the fact if you have kids or not. If you don't I think it broadens the options.

Queens
-Astoria (Steinway-Ditmars) (great nightlife)
-Howard Beach
-Bayside
-Flushing
-Woodhaven (slowly declining)
-Ozone Park (somewhat slowly declining)

Brooklyn
-Bensonhurst/New Utrecht
-Downtown BK
-Williamsburg
-Marine Park
-Midwood
-Park Slope/Carroll Gardens
-Greenpoint

Bronx
-Morris Park/Van Nest
-Norwood
-Throggs Neck
-Riverdale
-Woodlawn
-Van Cortlandt
-Pelham Pkwy

Isn't Ozone Park not so great anymore? Williamsburgh is declining as well I would say. What about Forest Hills, Queens?

In Queens I would add Ridgewood( but AWAY fron the Bushwick border, Mespath, Middle Village and Glendale; and in Brooklyn I would add Bay Ridge. Many areas in Manhattan are pretty nice but the fact remains that it is very expensive,
