Any area of Bayside Queens that are more expensive than others? Areas that are less desirable?
Is the area near Bell Blvd. desirable for families or is it more commercial? What is the subway like going to downtown manhattan. Thank you.

There is no nearby subway in Bayside. The nearest would be the 179th Street station, the end of the line for the E and F trains.

In Bayside, you need to watch school districts if you want the top-rated public schools, since part of it is District 25 and the other part is the sought-after District 26. Zip codes 11361 and 11364 are District 26. Other transportation options in the area include the LIRR and an express bus to Manhattan.

Yup, there is NO subway.
You either take a bus to the subway---btw, most of Queens is a two fare zone, which means bus-to-train (its the Queens way of life); or, drive or be driven to the LIRR; or simply drive.
I'm not real super familiar with Bayside, but Bell Blvd. is pretty much the main drag, and there are beautiful homes on and around Bell Blvd., million plus (at least pre-bust).
Its nice, there's a fairly decent shopping center.

It's a pain to get to Manhattan, unless you live near the Bayside train station and work near Penn St. and take the train in. Otherwise, with bus & train, expect an hour+ to midtown.

that was my other issue, Marine Park is a great neighborhood but all we have is Kings Plaza (ugh) and the new Target mall on Flatbush (ugh x2). I don't know much about Bayside but I assume the neighboring towns are pleasant and the malls as well?
