Hello So one of my neighbors started a Tenant Association in my building. We met once in our lobby and will be meeting again soon. I also saw a notice for all tenants from all buildings to meet in one of the buildings lobby so we can all work together to get things straight. Im glad this is finally happening. Im wondering if that was you JOMI?? If so thank you. Its good to know someone is willing to step up and fight for security and rights as tenants. I wanted to but hardly have the time to take on that responsibility with getting home late and picking up the baby from the babysitter. But i will be there when we have the meetings. And yes some things have changed. We have a new guy cleaning our building and i see him every morning doing his job. He deserves credit. I am also considering renters insurance.

Renters insurance is a great idea for all. I have it and pay $75 a year. The amount depends on how big your apartment is. Changing gears: You can take a person out of the ghetto but you cant take the ghetto out of a person. I say this because i moved into my new building in Yonkers
and someone already is leaving their garbage inside the compacter room on the floor. The room has a compacter, and two recyling bins, yet they put their garbage on the floor!!!!!

Arrow Hmmmm...

Hii Everyone,

Soooo...
I am very sorry to hear that the equipment was stolen out of various places throughout the development. But i am not surprised at all. This place has no security, and SOME of the tenants have No Dignity and Respect for their Homes.

My building, i am pretty sure is one of the worst buildings, heres a list of the Nonsense ive observed:

1. Parents allowing their Children to run around the halls, up and down the stairs- playing, some barefoot, no shirts, wearing only pants. That is what a playground or better yet INSIDE YOUR APARTMENT is for.

2. We have ONE Laundry room with; 6 WASHING MACHINES and 5 DRYERS???? FOR 110 Families, youre joking right? Oh and Lets Not Mention that 3 of those Washing Machines are Currently "Out Of Service".
WE CANT BE SURPRISED THEYRE BREAKING DOWN, you have Hundreds of people constantly running them,

3. The Carpet in the Halls are FILTHY. I guess a Shampoo/Cleaning/Vacuuming isnt available for our building either.

4. The Walls are Filthy. I guess Semi-gloss Paint (wipeable) is too Expensive.

5. The Lobby is Filthy. Why do you allow people to "Tape" things on the walls and Front doors, thats Tacky, for a complex that is dubbed "Upgraded Living". Can we get a Garbage Can in the Lobby?

6. We're Using "Trash" as Door Stoppers? Seriously People?

7. The Compactor Rooms are ....i dont even wanna go there.

I dont understand what went wrong in the Tenant Screening Process.
I have mixed feelings about this development. They just need to start all over.

No Offense But it is what it is.

And Management is a JOKE. They act like they dont wanna do anything. I dont call them unless i absolutely have to.

It isn't about tenant screening, it's about the adjustment process of an entirely new, gargantuan development. There is no doubt management is not doing its part, and neither are many tenants. However, once the tenant association is created, and concerns are voiced through this body to management, I am confident all of these issues will be addressed to everyone's satisfaction.

It will take time, but if there is no tenants association active yet, then you should simply create one, notify neighbors, and set a date for the first meeting. Bring with you the concerns, and ask your neighbors to do the same, and you will quickly see how many people feel the same way as you, and probably only a few bad apples not following the rules.

@Sobro i totally agree, but i doubt if those problem tenants even attend "tenants association" meetings or be apart of.

Question.

I Pay My Rent to Wavecrest, and i am just Curious do the residents in the "higher end" buildings also pay to Wavecrest? Are we managed by the same companies? Or are those buildings managed by "Northrose"?

Has there been another attempt a tenant meeting? Bc they tried a few months back and it was cancelled at the very last minute. Ive been here for 2 years already and was one of the few here. North rose wasn't even built. My point is a tenant meeting is long over due. I too agree with the need for garbage cans in the lobby bc on at least 3 occasions I've had to remove people soda/beer cans from out of the elevator. I don't understand bc whoever these people were had to obviously pass the garbage rooms that are on every floor so why not dispose of it then? But the real problem is going to be come the spring and summertime now that the walk way on 162 is completed that leads right to Boricua college. The steps and benches are a nice touch but once the weather warms up it's going to bring so much noise from people that don't live here that are going to be hanging out and drinking and that's going to bring graffitti and nonsense all times of the night. God help us all then!

You have to build a Berlin Wall on Melrose Ave.
