I'm planning on going to CUNY Hunter next year once I'm out of the military. The military will end up covering 100% of my tuition, plus I'll get a stipend of roughly $2800 a month. Judging from what I've read here I should be able to live in Astoria, saving over $1,000 of that a month. Which I figure should cover the rest of my living expenses? How realistic is that in terms of livability? Is it crazy not to have a PT job going in? Opinions please....
No, it's doable. After rent, utilties, transportation and food, you'll have more than enough to sustain you. Just keep partying and eating out to a minimum and you'll do fine.
