What could anybody do so wrong to be sued for $1 billion dollars?
We as Americans are losing our mind

Anyone can sue anyone or any company for any amount of money. This county has gone lawsuit crazy and the larger the amount you sue for, the more publicity you get, the more likely you can settle out of court for a tidy sum. Add race or disability to the mix and you have headlines all over the place.
Not that I agree with it --- I don't agree in suing unless there is truly a case --- but that's just how it is.

A billion dollar lawsuit gets more publicity than one for mere millions, as evidenced by the Daily News article and even the creation of this thread.

You know that publicity had to be the motivating factor--nobody could actually expect a court to award anybody one billion dollars.

I go to greenhouse all the time, and as terrible as it sounds no they won't let 300lb girls in (like said in the articles) but there are plenty of black people there! My friend I go with is black and HE takes ME! (im a white girl). One time I didnt get into tenjune and I'm not suing them for telling me I was too short!

This is what happens when we live in a litigation-crazy society. Anyone can sue anyone for anything and gets dragged out through our court system and defendents wind up wasting unneccessary $$$ to defend themselves. In the end, it is never for the reason they claim in their lawsuits - it's mostly always about money. Sue for $1billion - settle for $5K. What the courts need to do is find a solution to filter out petty suits so people don't waste their time or money and tax payers money.

You think he wasn't the instigator? There is noone else who can take any event, regardless how innocuous, and turn it into a race issue like he can.

Most of those places are "doorman's discretion" and it says so right on the advertisements. This case was most likely a weight issue and not a racial one.
Hah, I'm short too...but secretly, all the tall women wish they were short like us! Shorties are hot!
