Best places for 4 British guys on weekend break in NYC (Manhattan)
I have been to NY several times but never with a group of guys. We are there for Thanks Giving weekend (3 nights). Can anyone suggest the best nightclubs/bars/grills etc.......
Would appreciate it. Cheers.

Where are you staying? I would assume you don't want to travel so far from your hotel to get to a place?

We're Mid Town - not an issue travelling around Manhattan as we have a driver. Staying Waldorf.

Oooh la la, look at you fancy blokes!
I personally like Stout on 33rd Street, between 7th & 6th avenues. It has an irish vibe to it, maybe a taste of home for ya, chaps. There are 3 different rooms with a bar in them and the downstairs sometimes has karaoke. They also serve dinner etc. Sometimes people dance but it's more of a bar than a club.

Ahhh I also think I have been in this - is it on the corner under the Empire State Building?

I don't mean to sound like a snob, but a lot of posters on this board aren't foodies don't know much about high-end restaurants/bars in Manhattan.
A good site is Eater.com ( Eater NY : The New York City Restaurant, Bar, and Nightlife Blog). Particularly their list of 38 ( Eater NY: The 38 Essential New York Restaurants). I've been to about half of the places on the list and they're all excellent. I love the steak au poivre at Raoul's. The Spotted Pig is always good, provided you don't hit the bridge-and-tunnel crowd (avoid weekend nights). You can't go wrong with any of the Momofuku restaurants ( :: MOMOFUKU ::).
In terms of hip hotel bars I would suggest The Standard ( The Standard Hotel - New York Hotel), Hotel Gansevoort ( Manhattan Luxury Hotel | Hudson River | Gansevoort | New York City Hotels) great rooftop bar, or the Gramercy Park Hotel ( Gramercy Park Hotel, a New York Luxury Boutique Hotel). If you go the Standard or the Gansevoort, you should stroll through the Meatpacking District. It's very hip and trendy. Not my style, but you might like it.
For a couple of only-in-New-York places is would suggest Grand Central Oyster Bar ( Oyster) at Grand Central Terminal, which is very close to your hotel. The Campbell Apartment ( Hospitality Holdings) is also in Grand Central; it's very cool and a gorgeous room, but they do have a strict dress code. Another favorite old-school spot is Keens ( Keens Steakhouse . . . Since 1885).
New York Magazine has the best list of bars in the city ( New York Bars and NYC Nightlife -- New York Magazine). A few stand-outs in my neighborhood (the East Village) are: Black and White, Blue Owl ( Blue Owl), Death & Co. ( Death + Company), PDT ( :: Please Don't Tell ::), and Temple Bar ( Temple Bar). There are many, many, many more.
I would plan to go out for the night in one neighborhood, for example: (1) Chelsea/Meatpacking, (2) the West Village/Soho, and (3) the East Village. That way you can walk once you get there and not spend a lot of time in cabs backtracking.
