the site of the former Madison Square Garden on 8th Avenue between 49th and 50th streets before Worldwide Plaza opened in 1989? After the old garden closed in 68, it stood as a huge parking lot for close to 20 years

Not sure how old everyone is here, but was that immediate site with the parking lot a bad place with a lot of bad people around, or was it just a bland block?

I remember the old Garden...but not the parking lot. It was a rough area then, but the circus played at the Garden every Spring.
