I'm taking the census quiz and interviewing for 2010 field work at the headquarters on Varick Street tomorrow. Does anyone have any experience with census field work in NYC in particular? Would they keep you around your neighborhood, generally? Just looking for any info, if anyone has done it before. Thanks.

Usually they will try to keep you within the area you live in.

I worked for them in Queens earlier this year. They will keep you in the county you live, usually. They do have a few positions in which you would have to travel to other counties but they require you to have a car for those positions.
