Haha people are just lining up to move there!
Just another stupid american movie. Have you ever been to Bratislava? I guess not but you like to speak without knowing a thing... typical for an American. Bratislava is more beautiful than 95% of anything in US.

I read MilkDrinker's posts in other threads. He bashes everything US. According to him, US is the worst country in the world. After I responded to his posts, he even sent me a DM with his stupid pictures of NYC roads.
I'm not saying that US is the worst country in the world but it's definitely the worst country in the western world. Compared to EU only Italy would be worst. Until America will be the first country to join the 4th world Americans will still believe that is the best country in the world.

Have you ever been to Italy? Of course not... Well those people let their trash on the streets because they don't have where to put it. You'll see in Rome mountains of trash right before some high end restaurants.
Rome was named the most dirty metro in Europe by a lot of publications... just do a Google search before you write something! You're not at an american school here where everything is correct )
Southern Italy is no different than a 3rd world country! Check this thread about Naples (Napoli as I call it). There is more poverty and crime in souther Italy than in other EU country. And there are more bad things about Italy but this thread is about the worst city in the world: NYC.

Ok... I'll let the dreamers say what they like about that trashy city because I already said my opinion.

Been to Venice, Florence, Rome, Montecatini, Montecatini Alto, Orvieto, Pompeii, Sorrento, Capri, Naples, and Milan. Going back next month. Yep I've been to Italy. Whereas you've only done searches on people's low opinons for it and know about it from Google. Troll! I'm starting to think you were seriously emotionally hurt by either an Italian or someone from NYC. If so, get over it!

Can one of the mods get rid of this guy? This thread was actually one of the good ones.

I have also been to Italy. And I am Italian. I thought it was just lovely. I expected Venice to smell (we went in summer) and it actually didn't.

As for Bratislava (or however you spell it) my roommate is college was Eastern European and her family COULDN'T WAIT to move here. She's so excited to be an american citizen and escape from that hell hole.

I guess that just leaves more space for you!

Of course the manhole covers are going to stick up around the sections that have been grooved down.

Too bad you hate NY but there's no need to invent stuff. Kind of like going to someone's apartment who is having their kitchen renovated - taking a photo of the kitchen just after the original cabinets have been ripped out and the place looks like a wreck and saying, "look how these people live!"
LOL I thought the same thing also. The only photo I see that made any sense was the first photo. The rest are photos of undergoing road work.

Yes some NY roads are bad, but i also think it has something to do with the earth/soil that is here in NY. I know of some locations here that the asphalt "runs". It piles up to one side because of the car tires. and no matter how they pave and fix it, it ends up being the same way over time.

Also the fact that we have winter. All that salt and heating and cooling takes a tole on roads. You should see the road in Cleveland where I am from. Everyone looks forward to snow because it ends the construction and fills in the potholes!

To ohiogirl22:
Could you, please, not bash about Eastern Europe? Yes, the video is funny (and I did laugh at one point) but it is nowhere near reality. With $1.83, you would probably be able to buy a coke and a couple of sandwiches. Something like that. Also, the Soviet music in the background is totally out of place. Back in the day, Bratislava was part of Czechoslovakia (now it's the capital of Slovakia), and yes, it was a communist country for a while, but it was completely different from the hardcore communism that is associated with the USSR. Thirdly, the dilapidated apartment building in the video can be found in many places around Europe, but that doesn't mean that everything else in the respective town looks like that. It's probably some very poor neighborhood where minorities live and happened to be used for filming. It makes a point, after all. Clearly, the video is an exaggeration, a funny one......As for your roommate, although i'm happy for her escape, not everyone in Eastern Europe feels that way. A lot of people (mostly in the high classes) actually love their life there. I think your roommate should be grateful and should be proud of herself for having endured that hardship because now she can better appreciate her new life. Perhaps, one day, she may even be so benevolent as to go back to her home country and make a difference in the lives of those who cannot escape the "hell hole"....idk.....just a thought....

One a side note, it seems like some users were provoked by that dude's offensive remarks. Well, if you start bashing out about Europe, then you are essentially playing his game. I get the impression that he is completely ignorant and relies on Google searches in order to draw rigid conclusions about complex matters. Do you really want to fall down to his level?

You won't see roads that bad in any major city in this World! At least you won't see them downtown!

Whooo.. you obviously haven't been to Charlotte. They're roads exactly the same and I honestly and dare say worse than the pics you've posted. The city is too involved in "NASCAR Racing" than fixing their roads. And when they do "attempt to fix them".. they are the biggest hack jobs! It's pathetic and pisses me off to no end as a tax payer.

Like:
the subway
delis
buildings/cityscape
attractive women everywhere
lots of free/cheap but fun things to see/do
the harbor/rivers.
night life I guess.

Dislike:
the subway (Yes, it makes both lists.)
obnoxious tourists
hellish summer weather
overflow of spoiled brats and snotty Gossip Girl wannabees (Mostly Manhattan, but still)
Salaries that generally don't keep up with COL, unless you're in very specific fields.

I can second that. I've spent some time on the roads in Seattle and some of them are unbelievably bad.

Many things I like but one thing I HATE is when people push in to enter the train as soon as the doors open and before the riders who are exiting have gotten out. Push, push, push. No manners whatsoever, and I have seen both Americans and non-Americans doing this, so it crosses cultural lines. Were these people just not raised properly? And does this happen in other cities?
