I've always found the Whitlock Ave station on the 6 line pretty intimidating, it's feels very Isolated for some reason, day or night, but worst at night..

I would have to agree that the L train from the E.105th Street station until Broadway Junction can still be as dangerous as the old crack days. Especially at night.

I always found the Jamaica Van Wyck station on the E train to be a bit scary. For some reason everytime I pass that station, it is dark. Its like they're trying to save energy by dimming the lights. Anyone else see this?

I agree. Chambers Street looks like a scene from Planet of the Apes (LOL).

I also think the MTA has done a really crappy job maintaining The Sutphin & Archer Avenue station. It looks like it had some water damage at one point that was just ignored.

With the heavy traffic due to connections to the LIRR and the AirTrain to JFK, this station should be one of the stars of the system.

Default I was going to

mention the Whitlock station

you know what was a bad station 30 years ago the 50th street/8th Avenue station on the IND line--that's where Renee Katz, music student, was pushed off the platform. I was in there about 2 years after that happened and there was a guy wandering around the station looking he wanted to do same to someone

Actually the scariest train ride is the No. 4 going south from Grand Central to Union Square. I remember taking that train maybe a month or so after that horrific accident in August of 91 and realizing after passing through the 33rd street station that the train was doing at least 30 or 40 MPH. I think it's the only time I made eye contact with someone on the subway. We were both wide eyed and thinking the same thing, I hope this ******* remembers the sharp bend coming into Union Square and hits the breaks!

Default A very long walk ...

especially at nighttime: the tunnel on 191st Street #1 Train. The station itself is built 180 feet below sea level - yikes!
You have a looooooong walk to Broadway - like 3 blocks' worth. The kids/teens like to race their bikes through here, so watch out. Ever so often a homeless/drunk person makes this their home. At night time, you hear your footsteps echo - and someone else's as well.

The tunnel on the A Train's 190th Street stop is long also, about one city block. Takes you to Bennett Avenue, Ft Tryon Park and Bennett apartments. Very isolated at nighttime .
