Default Times Square New years eve

Hi,
Just wondering if anyone went and what they thought about it?

Also wondering if anyone knows how you get tickets in order to be up in the front where the stage is and the ball drops?
I am asking now so that next year I am more prepared.

I have heard that people who want to be close show up hours earlier and get placed in pens and are unable to leave to use the restroom etc.

I am wondering about the people that are near the stage. How do they get there? Or should I say get in?
Do you buy tickets, know someone...
Any ideas out there?
Thanks in advance

They probably know someone, paid off someone or are extremely good-looking...but why would anyone want to do this anyway? Being held hostage for hours in the cold...no bathroom, drinks, food...no thank you. Doesn't sound like any fun at all!

Ok, well, now I am getting closer here. LOL
I am NOT talking about being in the pens etc.
I am referring to the people who are near the stage and right under the ball drop.
How do they get in? Do they buy tickets and if so how much and where do you get them?
Or do they just know people who are working it and get in that way?
Thanks!

I'm assuming its similar to all big NYC events and the tickets are given to the "people" of NYC. These are very social people who they want there. Those people most likely dont want to to so they give the tickets to their friends, family, housekeep, ect....thats how it works for the tree lighting too i think

I was at Time Square for a couple hours in the mid afternoon of New Years Eve. It was getting crowded in places around 2pm, so i looked for the nearest train to NJ!

I was one of the people in the pens. In 29 degrees. Never again. I got drunk at either someone's house or my own.

I am bumping this year old thread because I want to take my 13 year old niece to see Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga. What do we need to do to get up by the stage area?

standing outside in freezing weather, possibly raining, maybe snow.....hurdled with about a million people.

I would rather eat a bowl of razorblades saturated in gasoline than be there.

So basically, you can't get to the main part to see the ball drop and everything unless you have tickets?
