I know this questions has been discussed multiple times in forum but still can't find a clear answer what is allowed and what is not.

Just bought the house and want to install shower/toilet/sink in the basement, I'm not planning to rent basement and there will be no kitchen/stove.
House is single family and I do not want extra headache to alter C/O to multifamily.

I remember seeing somewhere on the web that depending how plumbing is done shower in basement either violates or not nyc dob code. Someone has a clear answer on this?

You'll say since I'm not renting this should not be an issue, but you never know what kind of surprise to expect from neighbors.

On this type of issue I don't know why you would trust opinions on a message board? Call 311 and ask.

if indeed it is a basement (meaning that 50% or more of height from floor to ceiling is above grade), then yes you can install it.
