I used to like East Village better when there were all these little unique shops on St. Mark's... then they closed every single one of them and opened up a Japanese place... very disappointing.

I'm in my 40's and I love the East Village.

Where are you from?

I so agree. There are a few blocks in the West Village that still have cool shops but the East Village makes me sad now. It's like Canal Street.

The cooler shops are further east now. There's nothing on St. Mark's anymore. Try 11th through 8th between First and B.

Thanks! I'll widen my walking range when I'm in the area.
