Congrats to the guys on the waiting list. Also congtats to the December class. This is your chance to get out of the Bronx. You have 300 coming in to replace you. You will get out. Also the first 2 classes of the 3 if they do 100 each class have a very good chance at leaving the Bronx within 2 months.
Also new guys getting on soon. Save some money if you are leaving a good job for this save extra till you get called you will need it after getting checks under $400 a week.
The reason the ratio is so tight is because of the economy. If the job market was good out there only 2 in 10 would take the job. But even people with great jobs are thinking twice and many are leaving for DSNY when they call because they are worried about the future. They told us on day one after congratulating us on getting the job that you will never be a millionaire from this job but you will own a home put your kids thru college and have a comfortable life with your head held high.
My list number is in th 1300 I would give anything for this I am so hopefull that this will be my chance to get in all I do is prey to god and hope for the best good luck to all and god bless...
For those coming on the job within the next couple of months I have some good advise for you. Change your sleeping habits. This is a great job but there are a lot of difficult things about it. One of the more difficult things about this job is that you have to change your sleeping habits. One day you will be 6-2, the next day you can be 12-8 or 4-12 and then 6-2 again.
My 80 year old Aunt said the other day that her neighbor, got a letter from DSNY to go for what she says was his physical. I am thinking it was his medical. Has anyone gotten a medical appointment yet? I am hopin he has a high list number and it was a first medical. That may mean us guys who did it twice. May be shown a little mercy and only given a mini medical. AKA drug test. I really dont want to go running all over the city for a third time. Those Russian broads at the back x-ray place are annoying as hell. LOL So if any of you guys in the mid to high 1000's get a medical appointment. Throw up a post. I will do the same. 73x here.
