Hi retired sanman, I have been asking for awhile if anyone thinks that they will eventally get up to the 4,000's before the list ends............ what do you think?

Thanks a lot for the encouragement,but the hr I was on the phone with said theyll have to pass my list number then they'll send me the letter telling me why I failed. So I dought ill get into any of these classes. It's really ****ed up tho. I don't do drugs I go to the gym everyday,I'm an amatuer boxer,and I'm in phenomenal shape. They have guys working at deny that are all banged up who smoke ciggaretes back to bacl. Old ass people looking like there about to die yet they don't want to hire a young 25 year old who's actually going to be able to complete 20 years of service. It's ashame what they do to people.
it sounds like your leaving something out. why did you fail the medical? They won't give you any info so you can appeal?
epyon when you get to district after floyd bennet do new guys train with senior guys or more experienced guys until they get used to the truck and routes
You get paired up wherever your seniority places you. You will most likely be on recycling with a guy that just got on in Dec or 2008. This only happens your first 30 days, after that expect to be working a lot of midnights with the other new guys in the garage.
The last thing you want to be with is with a senior guy because he is not going to care about you. You are better off with a guy that has under 5 years otj, he actually still remembers what probation is like and will most likely look out for you.
There are no training wheels with DSNY after FBF you are thrown to the wolves.
Someone has to give up a tissue for u to get one... Its hit and miss... When a tissueman gets like 15-16 yrs on he might decide to go behind the truck to boost the pension... A tissue man might get promoted to Suprv... You never know... Someone that has u beat might pick it before you... Sometimes bottom man is forced on one...

Thanks Trag. Just trying to figure out a way to get like a steady schedule. With the salary being low- need another source of income but also dont want to blow this job. I wouldn't even care if I had to do relays or baskets everyday.

every garage is different... but i signed nights cause id rather work a 4-12 or 7-3 shift than a 6-2 and i can tell u that after i signed nights i havent worked in the morning at all so u might be able to do somthing else in the mornings or wait till u have some time on and ur settled in a certain shift
I can maybe buy back my military time and retire in 18 yrs. Probation. Very very strict. 18 months of hell...
