Seriously! It's hard enough to find a place in this city, and now every other poor ******* like me is using it, too!

The best thing about craigslist is that it's free but you have to be careful using it. A lot of dishonest posts on there, a lot of bait and switch type stuff, agents trying to get leads, etc.

It is particularly good if you are looking for a place that is being directly rented by a landlord, outside of that it's a little flaky.

Yup. The other day, I emailed someone in response to a posting that I knew was probably too good to be true (3 bedroom for $1300 off the F-train in a safe neighborhood, util. included). It was..

The person in question wrote back with some info. on the apartment, no pictures, saying that he and his family had already moved to London and he needed to find tenants asap. Therefore - the best part - I had to make a decision soon, and send him $1300 upon saying yes, and that he would use that $1300 to fly back to the states, sign a contract, and give me the keys. In other words, he wanted me to pay him before even viewing the apartment.

Wtf?!

Where do these pod people come from? Pods, I guess..
