NYC Affordable Housing Eligibility Requirement
To those who get an apartment through affordable housing lottery and gone for an housing interview, I want to know if owning a house will disqualify my application. My annual income definitely fall within general income limit, however, I owned a house as well.... I still have a huge mortagage to pay off and I am not earning any extra income from that house (losing $$$). I wonder if I am still qualified if I got offer for an interview? Can someone help??? THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!

What if you sell home?
What if someone owns a home but sells because they can't afford the mortgage payment? If they apply after selling their home, would the fact that they have a lump sum from the sale disqualify them? Exactly how much assets can you have and still qualify for NYC affordable housing?
Thanks!

living with my parents. what are my chances?
I am in my mid 20's and am living with my parents. However, I file my own taxes. (independent) I was wondering if this makes me my own "household"? Also, do they consider living with my parents a negative when considering me for an apartment or will they see it as a plus because of my age? If i write on the application that I live in a 3 bedroom with my parents and brother but am looking to live on my own, will my application be rejected? Do I put on the application that my parents are my "landlord" since I pay them money every month to stay there? Im afraid they will do a home visit, see I live with my parents and belive that I dont need the apartment when the truth is I need to get out on my own. I know these are alot of questions but if anyone can give me any input that would be greatly appreciated. thanx.

Owning a home will most definitely disqualify you...as it logically SHOULD!
The programs all have the same first premise: to make a decent home available to those in the area who would otherwise NOT have one.
It doesn't extend to second homes, usually and proplerly considered a nicety available to the rich.

i wanna know, y r u selling your home, the market is very VERY crazy now, we have kids coming from all these happy-go-lucky places thinkin that 850 for a room is Great ...for a person born and raised here in NYC, thats criminal,...as for you my friend, u may want to look at the options to increase your income through just having that house alone, such as renting out rooms, or trying to rent out to students ...such as those happy go lucky guys i mentioned before...850.00 a month from brad and chad sounds awesome...
