Disagree. To put it nicely, Highbridge is an underworld.

You both make good points. However, the yankee stadium area, especially Walton ave. has a large influx of whites moving in. I live here too. The poor are being pushed to the tremont and fordham rd neighborhoods. It is hard to say what will become of the area. No starbucks or other hipster institutions yet.

The area has definitely improved and continues to do so...and I will agree that the poorer folks are moving further north into the central Bronx area, and further east as well.
I am not sure there will be Hipster institutions as that does not seem to be, IMO, the population that is moving there. Starbucks I can see opening there however.

The subway maps do not classify the yankee stadium area west of the concourse as the yankee stadium neighborhood. There is an obvious difference. And zipcode. Also all the realestate agents say it is not concourse village. In the NY Times the apt. are listed as yankee stadium neighborhood. It is seperate because of the concourse and total vibe. I appreciate your input Bronx pride. Concourse village is not as nice. Hopefully one day it will be. I love the bronx and culture we have here.

Bloomberg is into revitalization- that's why I like him. I don't fully understand when people say he doesn't care blah blah

Well that's not entirely true...I think he is definitely marketing NYC as a luxury brand and catering to the global elite....and that's mostly because we need the tax revenue I believe, but also because it elevates NYC's stature globally, which works towards our economic engine..and the cycle continues.
But overall I think he is more interested in revitalizing NYC than gentrifying it.

best thing in
the stadium area is the Court Deli on 161 and Walton; the Crown Diner(161 near gerard) and Fun City Restaurant(Sheridan and 161) are good
that area is definitely revitalized and IMO is no longer scary and menacing; it's just that there remains something undesirable about it. they have a cool mall near Concourse Village on 161 which is something you definitely would not have seen in the 70's or 80's; still there is something faceless and lacking in character about it. hard to describe

I agree with you on the Court Deli. I go to a lot of Yankee games and frequently eat there as opposed to inside the stadium.

they more likely
have a stadium crowd and court/civil servant crowd but the Fun City diner has a flatscreen and is a really cozy atmosphere, lots of cops and court people in there
