Is there anywhere in the greater New York Metro Area that has a Midwest American Culture? (Morris: homes)

I wonder if a Midwestern person who is use to the culture in Cities like Omaha, Kansas City and Minneapolis could feel comfortable in or around the New York City Metro Area? Is there anyplace in the greater New York City area that has a Midwestern feel in its people and culture?

Staten Island would probably be the closest you can get neighborhood wise I guess would resemble some neighborhoods of Minneapolis meaning single family homes and neighborhood restaurants. But overall, no real big midwestern like pockets Id say. The people are different in NYC than in the mid west, not necessarily in a bad way though.

Probably the closest thing that I know of is out west in New Jersey. Maybe somewhere like Warren County or the very Western parts of Morris County. This area (although only about 1hr to 1.5 hr from the city) is very sparsely populated and is generally more conservative than the NYC metro area on average. Western NJ is very hilly though, so you're not going to get that flat-midwestern terrain though.

Sussex County, NJ is another option. It is more conservative and not as densley populated, however it is very hilly/mountainous here so I don't think the terrain looks similar at all. Compare this to Warren county where there are a lot of open fields and even some farms still operating.
