Hello, I'm from Jersey City, NJ and this season I'm trying to find a way to get to Met games easier. A couple blocks away from me, there is a bus named 99S and it heads to the port authority building.

From there, I need to find the 7 train or whatever it's called to go to Citi Field, I believe it's the Mets-Willets point. My question is, can I take the 7 train from the Port Authority building, or do I have to walk to Grand Central to take the 7 train. How far is the walk?

Also, instead if there are any ways I can get on the 7 train that are closer to the Port Authority building.

Note: If there are better ways to get to the Mets game starting at Jersey City, I'm open to alternate routes.

Please and Thank you everybody![LEFT]

At the Port Authority follow the signs to the subway, enter, and you will be able to walk underground to the Times Square terminus of the 7 train. It's a long block, a couple of minute walk.

Walk from the Port Authority downstairs into the subway. Take the passageway toward 7th Avenue and at the end of it is the first stop on the 7 (Times Square). You don't even have to go outside.

One other thing to keep in mind: if you've got plenty of time (and therefore, you can afford to pick and choose)...

There are two different runs on the #7 line. One's express in Queens and the other is local. If you catch the express (the signs on the side of each car will be lit up inside a diamond rather than a circle--that's the easiest way to tell), then not only will your ride out to Citifield be faster by about 10 minutes, but also less crowded. And that's because the express doesn't stop at 74th Street, where the E/F/G/R/V trains have a connection to the #7 line.

But don't worry about riding on the local; since you're boarding the train at the Manhattan terminal, you'll be one of the fortunate few to have a seat on the train!

Aren't they working on extending the 7 line to Port Authority? I vaguely remember reading something about it before I left up there.

To the Javits Center. From the Port Authority to it's terminal, it's only one block.

Port Authority is on 8th Avenue, and the Javits Center is on 11th.

The terminal is under 7th Av./Broadway, not on 8th Av.
