china-to-nyc is on a distinguished road
Default cheap & safe in nyc?

I'm moving to the city later this summer and I'd like to know if there are any especially sketchy areas to avoid living in.

My budget's a maximum of $3000 for a 3 bedroom apartment and I'll be commuting to NYU.

I'd appreciate any advice you can give me. The internet's my only hope; I'm trapped in China for another whole month. (No offense meant, PRC, but I'm dying for a proper cheese pizza)

$3000 a month? You'll definitely be fine. I don't think you have to worry about anything.

The sketchy areas to avoid are Red Hook, E. Harlem, Soundview, Bed-Stuy, Brownsville, Jamaica, Washington Heights, and Queensbridge, etc...

But $3000 a month will be great.
