UNIS is still expensive, especially for families whose gross household income is less than $150K/year. A family with 3 kids could end up spending more than $60K/year on primary and secondary tuition only. That’s money that could be better used to save for college and grad school as well as for a secure retirement, especially with equity-linked accounts becoming an unreliable way to build wealth nowadays. It’s more economical to buy or rent in a suburb with a good public school district.

UN diplomats and officer-level employees have a 75% tuition subsidy, which is why there are some people who can afford to send their kids there.

i don't know..the neighborhoods you're considering don't exactly have a problem with delinquent children and uneducated families. public schools are fine. sure you'll have 'bullies' and minor fights that may break out, but this happens in every school, no matter the neighborhood. and as you mentioned, you can save that money for college. (the average private university increases at a rate of 3-4%/year...can amount to a lot when considering the competitive ones).
