I have been to the Brooklyn gardens a few times. My best friend got married there and I was in the wedding. It was absolutely beautiful. Very picturesque place for a wedding.

There is free admission the Bronx Botanical Gardens Grounds on Wednesdays & free admission to the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens on Tuesday. I have been to both and they are both beautiful.

OK,I know I'll get flack for this but IMO the Brooklyn Botanic Garden can't compare with The New York Botanical Garden in The Bronx.

I lived in Brooklyn for many years and spent a lot of time in the Brooklyn garden and it is truly exquisite, especially the Japanese garden, but it is only 50 acres( v.250 acres @ The NYBG).

Both the breadth and depth of the gardens in The Bronx are far superior. The Cranford Rose Garden (Brooklyn) can't compare to the Rockefeller Rose Garden(Bronx). The Native Forest( Bronx) and the Haupt Conservatory(greenhouse) are examples of the types of elements that are totally lacking in the Brooklyn Garden.

I love them both but really the NYBG is much better(not just bigger).

Thanks! I took my daughter to the zoo & Arthur Ave. yesterday and was wondering aloud what day is discounted admission for the Gardens. Maybe next week.

I think you can also get in for free on Saturday if you enter before 11:00 AM ,unless it's only at certain times of the year.. Call and ask because they don't exactly promote this.

I think that both the Bronx & the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens have free admission on Saturdays between 10AM-12PM (noon).

Wow, great pictures its been years since I've been to the Gardens, back in the day (60's) when Howard Johnsons was on the corner of Fordham Rd./Southern Blvd, we'd go to the zoo, then stop at HJ for one of their 32 flavors, ice cream sundaes, fond memories of The Bronx.

Yep, Wednesday is suggested donation day/Free at the Bronx Zoo. I actually booked my Eticket today and planning on going there this coming Wednesday. I have not been there over ten years. Excited to see the Zoo. Anyone want to join? :-)
