Any thoughts on this area? It appears to be part of Dyker Heights which I've heard is a great area. Would a 10 minute walk from the R train at 86th and 4th at 2-3am be reasonably safe?

How is the R train in that area at night in terms of both safety and speed.

Thanks!!!

Also wondering about Homecrest Ave & Gravesend Neck Rd which I believe is considered Sheepshead Bay. Pretty short walk to the Q train. Any reason the walk back from the train at 2-3 am would be unsafe? (aside from the usual watch your surroundings, don't be listening to an ipod...you're in a city advice)

thanks!!!

To the 86th street location, yes it's safe. Even at 2-3 am.

either is pretty safe.
Dyker would be a bit nicer but R train can be slow

Thanks Andez. Is the R train decent. I'm not familiar with it at all.

Both locations are very safe. I used to live close to neckroad and its pretty safe. Plus, theres a police precinct there which is always a plus.

A great neighborhood and perfectly safe to walk to the subway. Just be aware that the R runs only as a shuttle between 95 and 36 Streets overnight. You'll have to transfer to the N at 59 Street (N or D at 36 Street) to continue on towards Manhattan.
