Well, I'm only 1 year into my degree, so I haven't had a whole lot of experience with the different specializations of EE, but all of it looks interesting to me. I find design to be the most intriguing but I don't think I would be unhappy doing anything EE related. My degree is also a computer engineering, actually, which may open up the opportunities a bit, although UT makes them seem rather synonymous, so I'm not really sure. The only thing I know for sure I can rule out is being a programmer. I enjoy the simple things, so I'm not too worried about the cost of living; I don't need to live extravagantly, so as long as I have a place to live, crosswords, darts, and my running shoes, I will be happy.

Well most of the Management and Technology consulting gigs for engineers are non programming related. They're mostly functional business flow design / industrial engineering or project management roles. Strategy consulting usually entails working with Private Equity firms. They like to scoop up all the engineers since you guys tend to have the most intensive workload and they know you can handle pretty much any business problem clients have.
