I'm just curious if anyone was in Manhattan Beach this Memorial Day. I'm not talking about the neighborhood, I'm talking about the beach itself. I got there with my family around 3 PM, then around 5 pm all of a sudden huge numbers of these thugs (almost all black) started swarming onto the beach and causing a huge commotion. I'm not talking about 50 of them, I'm talking about around 1500 to 2000 people. Anyway it pretty much scared off the families that were there for picnics and bbq's. I saw a few cop cars as we were leaving but didn't hear anything more. It seemed like it was some semi-organized event. Anyone know about this?

What did they do to cause a huge commotion? Or was it their presence that caused a commotion ?

I did see a few minor fights break out, nothing big just you know mostly people instigating. We were on one end of the beach, then all of a sudden we heard all these people yelling at the other side, and everyone just started moving. But like if I had to estimate it was around 2000 people. After that we left but we started to see more people coming in groups of 10 or more.

Here's the info you're looking for.
Manhattan Beach Community Group — Serving the Community for Over 68 Years

On Memorial Day the Police closed parts or all of the Coney Island Beach after numerous arrests and at least one stabbing. Rumors are circulating that there were 3 additional stabbings including one fatality. Those involved were said to be gang members.

Many of those leaving Coney Island came to Manhattan Beach adding to an already holiday crowded beach. Oriental Blvd. at one point was impassable. Police report that no arrests were made in Manhattan Beach but numerous summons were given such as for disorderly conduct.
