I've gotten pretty good deals on craigslist the day of the show. Just use your head to avoid scams.

Broadwaybox is a good, reliable source for buying discounted tickets ahead of time if you don't want to stand in line at the TKTS booth. BroadwayBox.com: free Broadway shows Discount codes for broadway theater tickets

Unfortunately, The Lion King is still a high demand show and discounts are rarely available.

sign up with playbill.com and theatermania.com . no cost to join and you get access to bway, off bway and even some restaurant discounts. these two don't always have the same thing so it is smart to check both.
do you live in ny? if so i highly recommend printing out the discount offers and getting your tickets at the box office for the shows you are interested in. in my experience the box office staff will help you select better seats than linking to the ticket service. especially if you are nice and don't go an hour before a performance.
tkts - as was mentioned - is always the best bet. lately they have had everything! it is so fun to go there and get 'dealer's choice". if you sign up for the email newsletter for tkts TDF - Theatre Development Fund you'll get daily emails letting you know what's available that day.

Right now, there are no discounts for Lion King. Broadway Box, Theatermania and Playbill are all good but no discounts for Lion King. You could also try for Rush tickets, but it's like winning the lottery, especially for a very popular show.
