Does anyone know Parksville?
Hi, I live in New York City and have found a little place I'm looking into buying in Parksville, NY, near Hunter Lake. Can anyone tell me about the area? Are there any resources that you know of for me to investigate potential tax issues (assessments) or things like sewers going in, that sort of thing? I'm nervous about entering into contract with a place I don't know much about. However, I've been searching for a year or more for this sort of property. It fits my budget (100k) and was exactly what I was looing for, though it's barely more than a cabin (1/ acre, beatiful views, serene) needs a lot of work. I hope I'm not overpaying. I sound like a rube--but I've been looking within a 2-2-1/2 hour radius of the city, and haven't been able to throughly research each an every area I've covered.
Your help is appreciated.

Hi! I love Parksville. I'm a weekender at Hunter Lake, been going for over 35 years. The mailing address is Parksville, but the proper town in Rockland. More of a township incorporating Roscoe, Livingston Manor and surrounding areas including Hunter Lake. Town of Rockland does not have a proper town; government offices are in Livingston Manor. Chances of any change in infrastructure such as sewers coming to Hunter Lake are near zero. The lake is spring fed, and a pleaure to swim, fish, and boat on. The area is busy from End of June to early September, but is really a quiet retreat the rest of the year. Best of luck to you. If you have any further q's email me directly at hl12768@mac.com.

Thank you orangeburger. You may be the first person I've actually made contact with who knows Parksville! Maybe it's the "Rockland" thing. My inspection is today, so I'll see how it goes.

Neighbor in Neversink
I just moved to Neversink last July and I love the area. For me, it's a second home, but my husband is there full-time.
We love the scenery, the fresh air and the wildlife. We've met a few neighbors who have all been very helpful to us. In fact, our next door neighbors brought us a cake when we moved in!
We spend a lot of time at home: playing music, gardening, reading and cooking. We enjoy exploring other parts of Sullivan County and attending musical events. It seems that blue grass music is very popular up here.
I think you will love Parksville. Go to the Rolling River Cafe. It's a delightful place to have a meal.
