I am going to clarkson university POTSDAM (Canton: houses, school)

I am Javier and I'm Spanish and I am 23 years old. Next september I am going to Clarkson university. I would like to Know the city is, its atmosphere. I've seen on the net that it's a college city, isn't it?Is it big or small?
What can I do at weekend there? I mean, are there many places to go out (clubs, discos,pubs,etc...) at night?How is the atmosphere? Are there many students parties?

Well Thair Is Always Lots Of Drinking In Potsdam But We Have No Clubs Or Andthing Like That We Just Have Bars I Think Thair Is Three In Potsdam But Thair Is Always Lots To Do If You Want To Find Something More Constucktive Then Drink All The Time And You Dont Need A Car To Get Around You Can Walk To The Local Stores And Bars And Movie Joints And Coffe Houses So All Is Good For A Young Man Just Getting Out Thair

GAH! The Capitalization Of Every Word Is Sooo Annoying!

Anyway, I graduated from Clarkson in 2006, and it is a very small town. The population swells from around 2,000 in the summer to around 15,000 during the school year (from a combination of SLU, Clarkson, SUNY Potsdam, and SUNY Canton).

There is a fair amount to do if you join a club, but if you don't, expect to be bored out of your skull. Most activities revolve around the outdoors during the warmer weather. There is some cross-country skiing in the area, and ski trips to some mountains for downhill. Hockey is big on the weekends during the winter as well.

I believe there are only one or two bars left in Potsdam, I think Duffs closed down because of issues with underage drinkers, Backstreets should still be open, as well as the Club 99 (the on-campus bar). No clubs or business-run nightlife to speak of, however there are a fair number of student-run parties (again, join a club).

You can travel to Montreal, but you'll need a passport, and it's about 2.5 hours from Clarkson.

Potsdam also gets very cold in the winter, so you had better have a good jacket. There were nights when it was down to -50 degrees F.
