Smile Looking for a specific beach near Warwick

Hello. I spoke with someone while we were there this past fall and they recommended a beach in New Jersey called "Island Park State Beach". I'm not sure if I remember the name correctly. Has anyone been there, or know anything about it? You guys in Warwick don't go all the way to Long Island for beaches do you? I also know about Greenwood Lake. Do people swim there in the summer? Thanks.

Default Island Beach State Park

I think you're thinking of Island Beach State Park -- which is in New Jersey. (Link below.)

Department of Environmental Protection

It's about a two-hour ride from Orange County, NY. If you're looking for specific info from people, you'll probably get a better response by posting a question on the NJ forum.

You could swim in Greenwood Lake but it's weedy and unpleasant. All those Prohibition era bodies and God only knows what else.

People go to Waywayanda State Park or just use their pools.

I was at this beach while vacationing in Cape May 3 years ago. We were looking for a 'pet friendly' beach (hard to find. NJ is not a pet friendly state), and took the drive north to IBSP. It was a lovely beach. Totally natural, with miles and miles of sand and dunes. There's different pull-off points where you can drive your 4WD vehicle onto the beach and set up your picnic and relaxation area for the day. I believe there is a designated area for swimming, but there were people playing in the waves everywhere. Lots of fishing too. This is the kind of beach I like. Undeveloped and natural.
