By the way, anywhere in New Hartford, Clinton and the Whitesboro area(Marcy/W'boro/Deerfield,etc.) is very nice. NY Mills is a small, but nice village just outside of the city of Utica and the parts of the city that are the nicest are North and South Utica, as well as the Eastern end of the city. Hope this helps.

Don't even think about it. Utica sucks. I have lived here for 40 years so i think i qualify to preach. Outside of Utica there are a bunch of great small towns. I live in Deerfield. A place you can still leave your doors unlocked and your keys in your car at night. These small towns are great to raise a family but this is where it ends. the city of Utica is in the middle and it is a slum. At the rate it is going downhill i do not see the small towns hanging on much longer. It is being over run with welfare and thus we keep getting our taxes jacked to pay for them. (did i mention highest sales tax in the state?) And lets not even talk about property taxes. Let's put it this way then you be the judge. The population in oneida county is about 60 thousand. This includes all the little towns i mentioned. There are about 17 thousand dirt bags on welfare. You do the math. In the city of Utica it is like a right of passege in these familys to come of age start cranking out kids and add a new welfare card to the family. The city of Utica should be burned to the ground then plant grass...........Time to cut losses and start over.

actually, there are about 250,000 people in Oneida County and about 60,000 in Utica. So, either you are trolling hard or need to do some research on where you live.
There are some nice areas of Utica too like South Utica, North Utica, parts of West Utica and some of the neighborhoods by the Parkway.

Actually what they need to do in Utica is do more investigations on workmans comp cases , disability cases, and welfare cases they should be classified as fraud cases. I grew up there and there are many fraudulent cases costing the tax payers so much money. The honest people need to turn the frauds in. That's the reason propperty and sales taxes are so high. The welfare to work program hasn't worked, they go to work and get hurt. Its a hugh problem for this area and unfortunately costing everyone.
Its a new way for the lazy to make money. And they have the sleezy lawyers there to do it.
Its an expensive place to live when you have to pay for everyone else.

I wonder if JohnNYC made the move? Are you out there??
It's unfortunate so many people slammed the area so hard.
It's newcomers like John that the area needs. Why turn them away because of your unhappiness? Anyway, he said he had a job offer already in hand.

Enter the city via Route 5S, and what do you see? Empty, falling down factories with broken windows, and litter along the highway. Potholes on the streets. It's a very depressing introduction.
