how is the cost of living is everything sky high. Is the bus system ok Here in RI our bus system ok not great. I know crime rates are not that great any were anymore. I will be living in a elderly highrise so from that stand point the rent is affordable. Is there things to do in the area? is there markets close by? is it a good area by what I mean is I will be living with sommone in a wheelchair is the area good for geeting around if he uses his wheelchair to the store or will he need to call for a wheelchair lift bus. Is Endwell a quiet area? I live in a housing Project now and all the people do is run around screaming foul words out of there mouths. they run through peoples yards stabing each other some druges(thats everywere know) where both on ssdi looking to move up there as we are looking for a change in life and both hate RI is it a good move or am I making the bigest mistake of our lifes I have 2 friends who want us to move in the area where they are but want more info before we jump

Click on search and type in Endwell. I passed along some info to some potential newcomers a month or 2 back. Where are you relocating from?

Endwell like all of Broome County is an economically depressed area. There are some high end homes but if you plan to leave your house at all, you may be happier in another area outside Broome County.

Endwell a depressed area???? # of car jackings this month-0, number of "driveby's" this month-0, number of "home invasions" this month -0, number of abductions this month-0, number of murders in Endwell this month-0....and on and on...but why stop....number of high-rise run down "projects" in Endwell-0, number of groups of illegals waiting on street crnrs for day-jobs in Endwell-0. I'd keep going, but my fingers would start to cramp.....

Endwell, New York...
I wholeheartedly agree with Tioga's most recent, outstanding post about Endwell, New York. It's about as safe a community as you'll ever dream to find. It's mostly a bedroom community, with excellent schools, outstanding nearby shopping and medical care. Very nice and well kept neighborhood parks which are safe for children and adults and pets. It's quiet, clean, and with some very pretty scenery all year round. If you decide to reside here, you'll be very happy with your decision and new lifestyle.
The community is making strides to comply with the American's with Disabilites Act and has removed physical barriers to mobility for those living with a disability. Your friend will be able to get around the community and can access a wheelchair van to get to places far from his home. Winter can be tough on wheelchairs but coming from Rhode Island's winters to New York winters won't be much of a change at all.

Hartwick..Thanks the kudos on my post. Since "elbowing" my way on to the forum earlier this year, I feel like I've had to constantly challenge/refute/and correct those portraying the "southern tier" as one vast hell hole of gloom and doom..........

Relocating to Kingston & SSDI Benefits
I live in Connecticut and currently am receiving SSDI benefits for mental health reasons. I am thinking of relocating to Kingston in a few months. Does anyone have any experience with SSDI benefits and relocating to New York? These are federal funds that are managed locally so I don't know what will be required. Any info would be appreciated.
