Default What about Malone?

Can anyone tell me if Malone is a good place to raise a family?

I am actually from the Malone area. I would say that it is a nice place to start a family, housing is cheap and schools aren't too bad. It is an awfully rural area though. I lived about 10 miles outside of Malone in high school and I graduated with about only 40 other students. When I say rural, I mean RURAL. We just recently received our first Walmart a year or two ago. Before that it, it was about a 40 mile drive. There is no real source of entertainment, a 40 mile drive to a movie theatre. And there are no real restaurants to speak of, only diners. There are no real work opportunities up here. There are prisons, 3 of them and a county jail. Young educated people are moving away. I am 23 and moving in a couple of weeks to Maryland. And drugs are becoming more and more of a problem because there is a native american reservation about 30 miles away and there is tons of drug trafficking because there reservation is on both sides of the american-canadian border.

That is Malone in a nutshell.

Thanks Joshua, That does help. Seems like a nice little community when I drove through. Will have to take what you say and think hard about it. I dont mind a rural town but not sure I want to feel that isolated.
Best wishes in your future. MD is a central location to everything the East Coast has to offer.

Default Run

Malone is a sink whole, I am 40 and stuck here. Taxes are awful, gas 4.19 a gallon the town is ran by a few older people, there is no stores no movie theaters. I will escape. Once you live here it makes you feel like your trapped. Education choices are limited, there is no jobs, drugs are ramped. Run while you can. Palmer
