Default Whats it worth?

I did not look at every state but I noticed that most are within 1,000 of each other. Even the supposed promised land of NC and even Idaho are all within 1,000 of each other.
dont get me wrong, I think we need nothing short of a revolution or a good old fashioned tax rebellion here in NY to get things straightned out and cut out the many leaches that suck the system dry but New York, IN MY OPINION, is a state worth fighting for. There really is nothing like it here. But you're right, cost of living like we pay is not right no matter how wonderful living here is.

Default transfer tax

The most criminal of all is the mortgage transfer tax. I recently sold a house in Mt. Vernon and paid an additional 1.4% in transfer tax. Basically, Mt. Vernon decided that they were going to whack people on their way out with thousands of dollars worth of a "transfer" tax. What exactly is the justification for that? At least the mortgage tax for buyers (which is also basically just a money grab) goes into the municipality you're moving into and they supposedly have to do a little paperwork to make it all happen, but man it's just outrageous.
